Nicknames for Girlfriends
Honey. Baby. Darling. Cutie Pie. Sweetheart. cupcake. To be called any of these nicknames is to be claimed by the man saying them!
I love the nickname my boyfriend gave me. He calls me, sweetie pie. And to me, this is the sweetest thing he could ever call me! Whenever we’re out, and he calls me that, I get warm and fuzzy all over. I like the fact that he’s letting the world know that I am his girl and that he is in love with me!
Girlfriend nicknames tend to reflect the way our boyfriends see us and feel about us. These nicknames for girlfriends can be funny, sweet, ultra possessive or simply a shortened version of our names, but said in a very tender way. Susan can simply be Sue, but when he says it, Sue definitely knows that there is love there!
Girlfriend nicknames can also be named after yummy treats or objects that have no resemblance to the person. I mean, Tall Nancy, is not a girlfriend nickname that connotes love. But this same Nancy may be called, “pumpkin’ by her boyfriend.I am positive that Nancy does not look like a pumpkin, but when we hear that, we know that there is love and affection between them!
I was in line at the bank once when a man approached the woman in front of me and greeted her with, “Hello, Poptart!” The woman positively glowed. She looked at him and was beaming! Most nicknames for girlfriends have favorable associations, they’re either sweet – Cupcake, Honey, Sweetie or they tell us the nature of the relationship. Many times now, I’ve heard, sweetness and my sweetness, as nicknames for girlfriends. To me, this nickname goes beyond the sweetie. Sweetness, implies that the object of affection, embodies sweetness itself! The girlfriend just got elevated to a higher status!
Another of the girlfriend nicknames I hear a lot of is, Baby. Sometimes, it is Babe, or sometimes, it is, My Baby. There is a sweet kind of possession in the term. When the boyfriend says this, he makes the girlfriend secure in his love. There is an element of, You are mine now. I will protect you.
Girlfriends like to feel that they’re the only one in the boyfriend’s world. If they could erase his past, they will, too. So whenever they hear that his current nickname for her is the same as his past girls, or that his nicknames for girlfriends are all the generic, darling, most girlfriends will not settle for it and will make him change hers into something uniquely her own. And she has a point.
Nicknames for girlfriends are special because they show a relationship evolving, maturing and growing. A woman feels special when she knows that whenever he calls her, there is affection and love!
So, when he calls you tonight, pay attention to how he says his special nickname for you. Do not take it for granted. Because chances are, to him, YOU ARE THE ONE!
